Snuggle House set to open Friday
Business previously faced insurance, licensing issues
The Snuggle House announced Wednesday they will be opening Friday and are currently taking appointments.
A receptionist at the Snuggle House said they are open and taking reservations, but will not be snuggling customers until Friday.
The Snuggle House faced insurance and licensing issues when the business was first announced, but they got their certificate of occupancy Tuesday, according to the city attorney's office.
Matthew Hurtado, the Snuggle House owner, said they have also been approved for building insurance.
City officials said Hurtado and one snuggler, Jennifer Redcay, each have personal general liability insurance for $1 million.
Hurtado said in order for people to work at the Snuggle House, they have to be independent contractors and not actual workers of the Snuggle House.
The Snuggle House was pitched to the city as a place where people could schedule an allotted amount of private time with a professional snuggler. In that time, the client can converse with the employee and cuddle.
