A crash likely caused by slippery roads sent four people to a local hospital with minor injuries Wednesday morning, according to a release.
Dane County sheriff’s deputies and the Deerfield Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 12/18 near Highway 73 around 8:45 a.m., officials said.
Investigators said a Chevy Trailblazer, being driven by Raquel Hellenbrand, 27, of Cambridge, started to spin out of control and into the eastbound lane of traffic. When the Chevy went into oncoming traffic, it was rear-ended by a Nissan Murano, driven by Jaqueline Schuch, 60, of Deerfield.
Hellenbrand and her three passengers, a 51-year-old woman, a 3-year-old girl and a 19-month-old boy, were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to the release. All occupants of the vehicle reported wearing seat belts or were properly restrained in child seats at the time of the crash.
Deputies said snow-covered slippery roads appear to be the cause of the crash.
