The sheriff’s office said a man they were looking for in connection with a rollover crash last month has turned himself in.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office said 30-year-old William L. Hunt, of DeForest, was involved in a rollover crash on Sept. 18 shortly before 11 p.m. on Highway K in the town of Springfield. He reportedly fled the scene on foot, and despite an extensive search that night, law enforcement members weren't able to find him.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Elise Schaffer said the rural area on County Road K near Vosen Road consists primarily of cornfields full of mature corn, making the search difficult. Utility vehicles, K-9 teams and drones are being utilized in the investigation.
According to the report, evidence inside the 1998 Nissan Pathfinder Hunt was driving suggests that he was injured, and his cellphone was found at the scene.
On Wednesday, Hunt turned himself in at the Public Safety Building in connection with a domestic incident that happened on Sept. 18, officials said. He was arrested on three tentative counts of domestic-related disorderly conduct.
