Madison has been named one of the top 100 Best Places to Live by a website that ranks quality of life and travel amenities of small and mid-sized cities, according to a release.
A month-long study of U.S. cities and the factors that make them better places to live, work and play culminated in the list released by livability.com.
Madison came in at No. 79 scoring high in the area of amenities and health care as well as social and civic capital, according to the release.
Livability worked with a leading market research firm to conduct a survey to find out what quality of life amenities residents value most, according to the release. The survey asked about factors that make communities better places to live, as well as factors they would consider in selecting another city.
The survey narrowed down the top eight categories to economics, housing, amenities, infrastructure, demographics, social and civic capital, education and healthcare, according to the release. Those categories were used to score and rank small-to-mid-sized cities with populations between 20,000 and 350,000 before collecting date from each city.
