MADISON, Wis. -

A Portage man was sentenced Thursday to federal prison for receiving child pornography, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office release.

Justin Bortz, 24, was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison, followed by 20 years of supervised released, officials said. He pleaded guilty to the charge on June 27.

The investigation into Bortz stemmed from the prosecution and conviction of Kyle Lutz, of Oconomowoc, who was sentenced on May 3 to 14 years in federal prison for production of child pornography, according to the release. An examination of Lutz’ computer revealed that several individuals traded child pornography, including Bortz.

On Nov. 15, 2013, a search warrant was issued for Bortz’s computers, officials said. An examiner of those computers revealed that Bortz distributed and received child pornography.
