Dane Co. could see advisory vote on legalizing marijuana
Legislature also has bill circulating to legalize medical marijuana
On the ballot in April, Dane County voters may be asked if the state government should legalize marijuana.
Two Dane County supervisors are pitching a referendum proposal to the County Executive Committee Thursday night.
If that committee approves the referendum, it would go to the full board, and depending on passage, it may end up on April ballots.
“The people of Dane County deserve a voice on this issue. I believe most Dane County residents and most Wisconsin (residents) understand that criminalizing marijuana is a massive waste of law enforcement resources and infringement on personal liberty,” Dane County Supervisor Leland Pan said.
There is also a bill circulating in the Legislature that would legalize medical marijuana.
