House Speaker Paul Ryan's less-than-comfortable relationship with Donald Trump's presidential campaign is showing itself again.
Ryan and Trump are set to make their first joint appearance of the campaign this weekend at the annual party festival in Elkhorn, a small city in Ryan's congressional district.
An announcement notes that Ryan will appear Saturday with top Wisconsin Republicans, including Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Ron Johnson. But Trump's participation isn't mentioned in the announcement until the third paragraph.
The announcement doesn't say that Ryan is actually campaigning for Trump, just that they are appearing at the same event.
Asked why he hasn't appeared with Trump, Ryan says, "I've been busy doing my job."
