MADISON, Wis. -

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke won't take the stage with President Barack Obama on Monday when he speaks at the Labor Day rally in Milwaukee.

Burke spokesman Joe Zepecki says it is not appropriate for Burke to speak at the rally Obama is attending because it is an official White House event and not a campaign rally. Zepecki says Burke has invited Obama to return for a campaign event before the election and is optimistic that will happen.

Republican Gov. Scott Walker initially did not plan to greet Obama but instead was to spend time with his family before the campaign season kicks off. But the governor's spokeswoman Laurel Patrick says a change in his family schedule will allow Walker to greet Obama at General Mitchell International Airport on Monday.
