Legislative committee to vote on GAB audit
GAB Director says he looks forward to addressing committee
A legislative committee is set to decide whether to order an audit of the board that oversees Wisconsin elections, lobbying and ethics.
The Republican-controlled Joint Audit Committee plans to discuss the audit and vote on authorizing it at an April 24 hearing.
Senate Republican Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald has complained the board favors Democrats. The board was at the center of recall elections over the past two years involving a number of GOP officeholders, including Fitzgerald and Gov. Scott Walker.
Sen. Robert Cowles, a Green Bay Republican who co-chairs the committee, said the board hasn't been audited since it was created in 2008.
GAB Director Kevin Kennedy says he looks forward to addressing the committee and he expects an audit would reveal the state needs new voting equipment.
