Final Senate debate includes Baldwin, Thompson sparring on Iran
Hot topic: Candidates dispute 9/11-related ad campaign again
Republican Tommy Thompson and Democrat Tammy Baldwin faced off in their final debate in the race for U.S. Senator in Milwaukee Friday.
Thompson said he questions Baldwin's judgment and not her patriotism for voting against a resolution honoring victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Baldwin said she is outraged that Thompson ran a campaign ad this week attacking her vote on the resolution. She said she voted against it because it contained other language supporting Republican policies she opposed.
She voted nine times for similar resolutions honoring the victims.
The two candidates also sparred over Iran. Baldwin questioned Thompson's holding stocks in companies that do business with Iran, while he said it's wrong for her to take donations from a group that opposes Iranian sanctions.
