-- MICHELLE --
POLITICAL REPORTER JESSICA ARP HAS THE DEVELOPMENTS
FROM THE CAPITOL TONIGHT.
AND STATEMENTS BY THE GOVERNOR.
HAVE MADE FOR A LONG DAY IN THE SENATE...
WHERE ELECTIONS WERE FRONT AND CENTER.
I know exactly whats going on, people don't want us
to vote on this in the daylight
OBJECTING TO A MOTION BY SENATOR SCOTT FITZGERALD
TO MOVE TEN CONTROVERSIAL BILLS TO THE END OF THE
DEMOCRATS EXPLAINED WHY THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT
A TYPICALLY ACCEPTED MOVE.
if the governor is intending on calling us back into
a special session on voter
id to deal with more unconstitutional
issues youre damn right we're going to fight you every
step of the way
THEY WERE REACTING TO A STATEMENT BY THE GOVERNOR
FOLLOWING REMARKS AND A BILL SIGNING AT THE WISCONSIN
WHERE WHEN WALKER WAS ASKED ABOUT THE ELECTION BILLS
FACING THE SENATE...
HE SAID HE HAD A DIFFERENT PRIORITY.
the only real thing I thought that was pressing and
may still continue to be pressing depending on what
the court reacts on is voter id
SO FAR THE ASSEMBLY HAS APPROVED.
BUT THE SENATE HAS DECLINED TO TAKE UP...
A BILL THAT WOULD RE-DO THE STATE'S VOTER I-D LAW.
THE GOVERNOR SAYS HE MAY CALL LAWMAKERS BACK IN THE
SUMMER OR FALL THOUGH.
TO TAKE IT UP...
if the courts regardless of which court it would be
would say you can have it if not for this provision
or that provision we want to modify that so the law
would be in effect before the next election
this doesn't do antyhign to create a job, this doesn't
do anything to help that, this doesn't do anything
at all other than try and guarantee scott walkers
THE SUPREME COURT IS CONSIDERING TWO CASES ON VOTER
I-D AND A FEDERAL COURT IS CONSIDERING ONE...
IT'S NOT CLEAR WHEN ANY OF THOSE RULINGS COULD COME.
THE SENATE HAS BEGUN DEBATING THE ELECTIONS BILLS
ON THE CALENDAR TODAY...
INCLUDING ONE RESTRICTING HOURS OF IN-PERSON ABSENTEE
VOTING IN THE STATE...
THE SESSION IS EXPECTED TO GO INTO THE EVENING.
