MADISON, Wis. -

Madison police have released the images of two women suspected of taking credit cards from a woman’s wallet while she was eating at a west side book store.

The victim told police she was eating lunch at Barnes & Noble at 7433 Mineral Point Rd. on Dec. 5 when a couple of women sat down behind her and within arm’s length of her purse. She said she later noticed her purse unzipped with her wallet sticking out of the top. She said four credit cards were missing.

The 53-year-old Verona woman said she asked the two women sitting behind her if they had gone into her purse and they denied it.

When the victim got up to speak with a store manager the two women made a fast exit, according to the victims.

A short time later, the victim’s credit cards were used to make $2,500 worth of purchases at the Super Target in Fitchburg.
