MADISON, Wis. -

Madison police set up a sting to make an arrest when a stolen laptop turned up on Craigslist.

A 21-year-old Madison man said his laptop was taken from his car when it was parked in the 120 block of Langdon Street Sunday morning. Someone used a rock to break a window.

The man said he then found a laptop on Craiglist that was likely his and contacted police.

An officer posed as an interested buyer and arranged to meet the seller at a parking lot on North Sherman Avenue Monday afternoon.

Police said the officer negotiated on the price of the laptop to buy time as he checked out the computer. The owner told the officer where a screw on the computer was missing and provided the serial number.

Antarius J. Sanders, 21, of Madison, told police he bought the computer from someone else and wasn’t responsible for the theft.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and on a probation hold.
