MADISON, Wis. -

Police are looking for help from witnesses who may have information in a shooting that injured a 22-year-old at a downtown Madison party last week.

Police said Tuesday that investigators are looking for witnesses to come forward in the case, including some who may be able to identify a suspect. Police are specifically looking for a witness who who provided information to an officer moments after the shooting. Police asked that person and any others with information related to the case to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.

Officers were called at 12:41 a.m. on Sept. 4 to an outdoor party in the 600 block of Mendota Court.

The man, who was shot in the abdomen, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, but police said it is believed he will survive.

The victim is not a University of Wisconsin student, police said.
