Madison police said they’re no longer looking for a suspect in a Tuesday morning armed robbery because the victim’s story didn’t match evidence in the case.
Officers were called to an area near Capitol Court and North Charter Street before 9 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery. A search of a wider area was conducted in the hours after the crime was reported.
Detectives said the 21-year-old man who reported the robbery gave inconsistent details about the crime and evidence didn’t correlate with the details provided. They said it became apparent the incident did not occur.
