PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. -

A man suspected of sixth-offense operating while intoxicated tried to flee officers during a traffic stop, according to Prairie du Chien police.

Officers said a vehicle was spotted on Friday failing to stop at a stop sign, operating left of center and not staying in its lane.

The driver, Jacob Allert, 37, of Prairie du Chien, failed field sobriety tests, police said.

Officers said Allert tried to flee on foot while they were attempting to arrest him. He was caught after a short chase.

Allert was arrested on suspicion of sixth-offense OWI and obstructing an officer.
