Police: Man makes threats at hospital; Gun found
Man accused of threatening security staff
A Madison man was arrested after making threats to kill security staff at St. Mary’s Hospital early Sunday morning, according to a release from the Madison Police Department.
Police said Bo J. Penman, 22, came to the hospital shortly after 1 a.m. with a family member who was getting medical care. Security staff was called to escort him from the building when he began yelling and swearing.
Witnesses told police Penman threatened to beat up security personnel.
Police were called and Penman was found in an ambulance bay. He was ticketed for disorderly conduct and trespass and taken home.
Police said Penmen returned to the hospital at 2:20 a.m. and began threatening security again and threatened to get a shotgun.
Police sent extra patrols and an hour later an officer spotted a suspicious vehicle near the hospital with its headlights off. Officers said Penman had shotgun shells in his pocket and a shotgun in the truck.
He was arrested on suspicion of two counts each of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass to a medical facility.
