MADISON, Wis. -

Officials said a shooting that happened downtown early Sunday morning was a drive-by shooting outside a house party.

Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 100 block of East Gorham Street just after 2 a.m., officials said.

An 18-year-old man was found at the scene with a gunshot wound, and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

Investigators said there had been a fight between several men outside a party.

Witnesses told police that after the fight broke up, a car drove by and they believe shots came from inside the car, according to the release.

The 18-year-old said he was not involved in the fight, but he and his friends were outside when shots were fired.

Officers found numerous shell casings in the area, officials said.
