SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. -

Sun Prairie police said they were able to peacefully end an incident involving an armed suicidal subject on the city's west side early Tuesday morning.

Police said they received information about the subject driving near Sun Prairie just before 5 a.m. Police found the vehicle the subject was driving going eastbound on Wisconsin Highway 19 and initiated a traffic stop near the Walgreens in the 200 block of Davison Drive.

Police and Dane County deputies made contact with the subject, who eventually turned himself over to officers. The subject was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Roads near Wisconsin Highway 19 and Bird Street were closed during the incident, but were reopened around 6:30 a.m.
