VILLAGE OF BLUE MOUNDS, Wis. -

Police said a Blue Mounds man was charged with a fourth drunken driving offense after nearly hitting an officer Tuesday.

The Village of Blue Mounds Police Chief Andrew Rose said 33-year-old Bradley H. Fischer, of Blue Mounds, was driving on Highway ID at about 5:50 p.m. when he crossed the center line, veering into the opposite lane where a Blue Mounds police officer was traveling.

Rose said the officer braked and swerved right, avoiding a head-on collision with Fischer's vehicle, then attempted to make a traffic stop. Rose said Fischer pulled over about a quarter mile down the road on Garden Drive.

Fischer was charged with a fourth-offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, which is a felony, Rose said. Fischer was also charged with second-offense operating after revocation.

Fischer was taken to Dane County Jail, according to the report.

Rose said no one was injured in the incident.
