PHOTOS: Muskies released into Lake Monona
Lake Monona got some new residents Wednesday afternoon. About 1,200 nearly footlong fall fingerling muskies were released into the lake as a part of ongoing research about the life expectancy and growth of the fish.
The fish release is a collaboration between Wisconsin and Minnesota dating back to 2006. The size of Lake Monona and Lake Mendota make them able to support many kinds of fisheries, and the lakes have a good reputation for diverse fishing.
The fish for stocking Wednesday came from the Art Oehmcke hatchery in Woodruff, Wisconsin.
