An ordinance that will require store owners to censor what clothing they hang outside their shops in Wisconsin Dells passed unanimously without any comments.
The ordinance says store owners have to keep clothing with sexual references, racial slurs and profanity inside, and warn customers of mature material before they enter the store.
Wisconsin Dells Mayor Brian Landers told News3 in early November that he had heard a number of complaints from visitors and families who live in the Dells who have been offended by the words and images on some shirts shown outside.
Landers said once the ordinance is published, it will go into effect. He expects that to happen on Saturday.
