If Madison is to successfully address its racial disparity issues…and it must…it will need the collaboration of every major institution in the city. The UW is arguably the most important of those institutions, and thus its contribution is especially important.
The UW has stepped up its game recently, looking at both the campus environment and the university’s relationship to the broader community in terms of diversity and inclusion. We want to do everything we can to encourage and support those efforts. The last of four listening sessions on a proposed diversity plan being conducted by the Ad Hoc Diversity Planning Committee is scheduled for Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8 at United Way of Dane County’s offices on Atwood Avenue. Campus leaders are inviting community members to share their ideas on how the UW can create a new framework for diversity and inclusion.
As far as we’re concerned what’s good for the campus is good for the community. The more we partner together the more we can learn from each other. We applaud the effort.
