Movin’ Out, the thoughtful and visionary statewide non-profit that creates housing solutions for people with disabilities and families of children with disabilities has long been a leader in creative strategies for inclusion. With over 12-hundred homeowners in 67 Wisconsin Counties, and 176 rental households in 10 Wisconsin communities, Movin’ Out has provided tailored housing counseling and buying plans and affordable rentals in ordinary neighborhoods with remarkably successful results.
Next week, Movin’ Out takes its forward-thinking work yet another step further with a new, collaborative project in Waunakee. Madison & Main Apartments is a $7.7 Million project with 78 units, 10 of which will be affirmatively marketed to tenets with permanent disabilities. On top of that the project will include 35-hundred square feet of commercial space with all the employment potential that offers. Most importantly, this project is the result of Movin’ Out being approached by families in Waunakee who wanted accessible and affordable housing opportunities in the Village.
Partners include WHEDA, Dane County and Waunakee Holdings. It’s a special project and yet another example of Movin’s Out’s leadership in creating truly inclusive communities.
