One of the truly wonderful characteristics of the Madison-born and -based Combat Blindness International is its consistent success in discovering and treating the causes and impacts of blindness in countries around the world.
For example, while CBI’s core mission of providing low-cost but effective cataract surgery by bringing care to the doorsteps of the poor has had life-changing impacts on thousands of people, it has discovered that in the developing world women are disproportionately affected by blindness.
So this year’s World Sight Day Gala next Thursday at the Marriott West Hotel has as its theme Empowering Women Through Sight.
Your attendance or contribution will help CBI cure preventable blindness in women and help young women gain the independence and education to become eye care personnel.
CBI does so much with so little, and it could do so much more with a little more. Learn more and get your gala tickets at combatblindness.org.
