We are celebrating this year the 100 year anniversary of Madison College, what some of us still think of as MATC, Madison Area Technical College.
Becoming more comfortable with the new name is a perfect segue to a new century in its existence. This is not your father’s or grandfather’s or great grandfather’s community college. This is where we are educating, training and developing large swaths of the workforce of the future.
Madison College is where we provide the technology and new economy skills to complement the humanities and liberal arts. It’s where we retrain older workers and give younger students the head start they need to go to a four year college if they wish.
And it’s where we turn for teachers and professionals to come to our businesses in our communities and help us solve real problems.
And actually it’s a lot more.
Madison College is celebrating this Friday at the Alliant Energy Center. It’s a community celebration, as it should be.
Madison College is a community asset, and we’re a better place for having it.
