MAKE A GOOD MOVE BETTER
Dr. Jane Belmore is an especially inspired choice to serve as interim superintendent of the Madison School District while the school board searches for a replacement for Dan Nerad. In addition to her experiences as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent with the Madison School District, Belmore has been the highly respected Dean of the Edgewood College School of Education and has served on the Board of the Foundation for Madison's Public Schools. She got her PhD from the UW and she's worked on an effective urban school leadership initiative. That's quite a resume. Let's give her the opportunity to use it.
We'd like to see Belmore perhaps use David Ward as a model. Ward is clearly more than a caretaker in his position as interim chancellor for the UW. Ward is leading the University and Belmore should be given every opportunity to lead the school district. We can't afford to wait. She's clearly qualified, and she's got so much to offer. Let's not waste her talents or this opportunity.
