Summer is the perfect time to appreciate the local businesses that provide the goods and services that make living in the greater Madison region so enjoyable. These locally owned and operated shops and restaurants and studios and galleries are what make us distinct, what makes us Madison. And what better day to enjoy and support these businesses then the longest day of the year?

Thursday is the Solstice, and Dane Buy Local has organized the first annual Solstice Stroll. More than 40 locally owned businesses in Dane County will be staying open late on Thursday and they're inviting you to stop by, mingle, enjoy refreshments or demonstrations and learn about the folks who make up Dane Buy Local and what they do. State Street and Monroe Street are hubs, but there are businesses from Fraboni's on Regent Street to Fisher King Winery in Mount Horeb participating. We think it's the start of a great tradition.
