Charles “Charlie” L. Ritchie, age 100, passed away on Thurs. Nov. 24, 2016 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City, surrounded by his family. He was born June 11, 1916 in Monfort, WI to the late Jay L. and Arminda (Eastman) Ritchie. He married Shirley DeCot on June 9, 1945; she preceded him in death on Mar. 14, 2005. For over 30 years Charlie was the owner of Spoo and Son’s a Suit and Florsheim Shoe store on the square in Madison retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Lake Wisconsin Boat Club, Lifetime member of the Lake Wisconsin Golf Club, and member of First United Church of Christ. Charlie’s largest passion in life was his love of golf, which he enjoyed until he was 97 years old. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Green Bay Packers, Badger Football, Basketball and Hockey, and was very fortunate to travel many places with his family who were the center of his life.
He is survived by his children, Amy (Brian) Williams of Sauk City, and Jay (Lynn Allen) Ritchie of Madison; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Porsche of Yorba Linda, Ca., Marc (Jillian Powers) Lamberty of Sauk City, David (Whitney) Lamberty of Baraboo; 4 great-granddaughters, Sienna Jade Lamberty, Charlie Ruth Porsche, Soleil Louise Lamberty, and Audrey Carol Porsche; god daughter, Diane Reddeman-Lee and god son, Mark Reddeman. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and David Ritchie; and two nieces, Leilani and Christine Ritchie.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Fri. Dec. 2, 2016 at First United Church of Christ. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Sauk City Cemetery.
