1890: Groucho Marx, who would go on to find fame as an actor and comedian with The Marx Brothers, is born under the birth name Julius Henry Marx in New York City. He was best known for the 13 films he made with his siblings and for hosting the radio and television game show "You Bet Your Life." He was also known for his distinctive appearance, which included an exaggerated stooped posture, glasses, cigar and a thick greasepaint mustache and eyebrows. He died at age 86 on Aug. 19, 1977.
