Officer saves woman in West Towne Mall
Paramedic: Officer's actions saved her life
A Madison police officer has been nominated for a department life saving award for saving the life of a Black Earth woman who had collapsed in West Towne Mall Thursday morning.
According to a report the officer was called to the mall for a theft but heard the call about the woman while in the security office.
According to the report the officer said the 70-year-old woman's skin was a blueish color and he began doing chest compressions.
Paramedics arrived and had to use a defibrillator on the woman. According to the report a physician on the scene said the officer's actions kept the woman alive.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital. According to the report the officer's lieutenant said he will be nominating the officer for the department's life saving award.
