MADISON, Wis. -

An investigator said no one is culpable in a crash on the Beltline last week that killed a 26-year-old pedestrian, police said.

Madison police said Thursday morning that the investigator found "that there is no criminal culpability" in the death of Dustin D. Dilks

Dilks was struck in the early morning hours on the eastbound Beltline near the Gammon Road exit on Nov. 21. The driver who struck him said Dilks was standing in the middle of the far right lane and put his hand up. The driver said he wasn't able to stop. Dilks was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigator met with Dilks' family to discuss the findings, police said. It was also determined that it was not a suicide.

The family requested privacy, according to the report.
