A 66-year-old Minocqua man has died after he was struck by lightning while walking his dog during a thunderstorm.

Bryan Jennings was hit by lightning outside his home about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said Jennings was unresponsive when medical help arrived. He was taken to a hospital in Minocqua before being transferred to the University of Wisconsin Hospital burn center in Madison, where he died Thursday.

WSAU Radio reported that the Oneida County medical examiner's office confirmed Jennings' death Friday.

Jennings was a Minocqua town supervisor. Police say his five-month-old dog was not hurt.
