MADISON, Wis. -

A Madison police officer arrested two men Sunday after noticing they were carrying a firearm.

Albert Landrum, 25, and Zachary Meyer, 26, were in a vehicle, sitting at the PDQ gas station on Northport Drive at around 3:22 p.m.

An officer saw a Glock 10 mm semi-automatic pistol with a scope sitting in plain view on Landrum's lap and called for backup as he held the men at gunpoint.

Police said as Landrum got out of the vehicle, he tried to throw away a baggie of heroin.

Police said neither suspect was permitted to carry a firearm.

Both face charges of illegal possession of a firearm by a felon. Landrum also faces a charge of possessing with an intent to deliver heroin. Meyer faces possessing drug paraphernalia and bail jumping charges.

Meyer told police the firearm was his.
