RIDE, A 63-YEAR-OLD WISCONSIN MAN REMAINS IN AN INDUCED
TONY THEISEN TYSON IS BEING TREATED AT THE U-W HOSPITAL

ATTORNEY REPRESENTING THE FAMILY AND JOINS US.
DAVE- WE'RE STARTING TO GET A CLEARER PICTURE OF TONY
WHEN TONY THEISEN FELL 17 FEET HE ENDED UP WITH A
BUT HE ALSO SUFFERED BROKEN BONES IN HIS BACK - ARMS
IN A SPLIT SECOND HIS LIFE CHANGED.

GOT ON THE OPA ROLLER COASTER THEY HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING
HOW IT WOULD END.
NEAR THE END OF THE RIDE - ON ONE OF THE LAST TURNS
- TONY THEISEN WAS THROW FROM THE RIDE.
he hit a number of times as he went down and when
he hit the grouind he hit with his head right on a
metal bar and he suffered a skull fracture, he has
a fractured scapula, four fractured vertabrae, fractured
toes, fractured fingers, dislocated shoulder but he's
had a traumatic, very life altering brain injury from
he still has severe neuro congnitive deficits and
he's still in an induced coma from a very severe accident.
WHEN HE WAS THROWN FROM THE RIDE - HIS WIFE WAS SITTING
NEXT TO HIM - AND SAW IT ALL.
she is trying to hold it together but it has been
very hard on her.
it has been about 3 weeks now and she's still in shock
DOCTORS ARE CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC THAT TONY THEISEN
WILL SURVIVE HIS INJURIES AND COME OUT OF THE INDUCED
BUT CLEARLY HE FACES A VERY LONG ROAD TO RECOVERY.

THE FAMILY TOLD ME A SAFETY TEST WAS DONE ON THE OPA
RIDE JUST TWO DAYS AGO.
THEY PLACED SAND BAGS IN THE ROLLER COASTER CAR TO
SIMULATE TONY THEISEN'S WEIGHT.
WHEN THE RIDE REACHED THE SPOT ON THE TRACK WHERE
THEISEN WAS EJECTED - THE LAP BAR POPPED OPEN.
