A 33-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries during a hit-and-run crash just south of the Beaver Dam city limits Sunday morning, officials said.
Crews responded to reports of a pedestrian that was hit by a vehicle on Madison Street in the town of Beaver Dam around 2:30 a.m., according to a release.
A witness told police he and the 33-year-old were walking southbound on Madison Street from Lake Crest Drive when a dark-colored sedan came up behind them, officials said. The witness estimated the vehicle was going 40 to 45 miles per hour when it hit the 33-year-old from behind.
The vehicle did not stop, and the left scene traveling southbound, according to the release. The witness told police there should be significant damage to the right front corner of the vehicle and possibly the windshield.
The 33-year-old was transported to the Beaver Dam Community Hospital and then to UW-Hospital for his injuries, officials said.
