A 34-year-old Oregon man was beaten unconscious and suffered head injuries in downtown Madison Wednesday morning, according to police.
Police said the victim was robbed at Gilman Street and North Henry Street early in the morning and taken to a hospital with a facial fracture and brain bleed.
The injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, according to police.
A witness told police they saw a man beating the victim. An unidentified man pulled the attacker off the victim.
An officer attempted to contact Aleque J. Guerra, 18, of Madison, who led the officer on the foot chase, according to police. Guerra was apprehended, and police said the victim’s wallet and phone was found in his pockets.
Guerra was arrested on suspicion of robbery, substantial battery, resisting, bail jumping and underage person in possession or consuming off a licensed premises.
