A man convicted for escaping from Mendota Mental Health last summer will spend four years in the prison system.
Graham Stowe, 30, was sentenced Tuesday to two years in prison and two years extended supervision for prompting a massive manhunt around July 4 after police said he fled the facility.
He was a patient at Mendota Mental Health and was serving a 39-year commitment for a 2004 incident in which he held an ex-girlfriend hostage.
Prosecutors told jurors Stowe escaped the facility on July 2 while he was out on the grounds. Officials had been planning to move him to a more secure area after learning he had contact with the woman he held hostage.
Stowe was on the run until October when he was arrested by U.S. marshals in Fond du Lac.
