Man sentenced for robbing 4 Madison-area pharmacies
DOJ: 35-year-old pleaded guilty to April robberies
A Tomah man was sentenced Tuesday for robbing four Madison-area pharmacies in April, according to a state Department of Justice release.
Jesse Kirk, 35, was sentenced to 20 months in federal prison for the robberies, and was ordered to pay $8,154.82 in restitution to the pharmacies. He pleaded guilty to the charge on Oct. 3.
Kirk admitted to robbing the four pharmacies over a ten-day period in April, and stealing various types of controlled substances, including Oxycontin, according to the release.
During sentencing, the judge found that while the robberies were driven by Kirk’s drug addiction, a prison sentence was warranted because of the severity of the conduct and the fact that he victimized pharmacy staff during the robberies, according to the release. During a robbery on April 15, Kirk told pharmacy staff, “You have two minutes or you are going to get hurt.”
