A man suspected of peering into the bedroom window of a Madison woman was run down by her roommate’s boyfriend Thursday morning, according to Madison police.
Police were called shortly after midnight when a man confronted and ran down another man who he said was peering into a bedroom window in the 200 block of Blount Street. Officers said the 25-year-old man stood over the suspect, 54-year-old David H. Whaley, until police arrived.
The man said he was riding his bike to visit his 24-year-old girlfriend when he saw the prowler looking into a room where his girlfriend’s 24-year-old roommate was. He said the prowler was standing on his tiptoes and had his hands cupped around his eyes.
The man told police that when he confronted the prowler, the man said “I’m sorry. I have a problem.”
Whaley was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.
Madison police said residents should keep bedroom windows covered when at home and make sure the window coverings are fully functional.
