Man loses tip of finger in dog attack

Victim was working under his vehicle during attack

TOWN OF MADISON, Wis. -

A man working underneath his vehicle lost the tip of his finger when he was attacked by a dog, according to Town of Madison police.

Police said the victim was working under his vehicle in the 400 block of Lily Drive at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday when he reached his left hand to the bumper to help himself move from underneath the vehicle. As he did that, a dog approached and bit his hand.

The victim told police he used his right hand to hit the dog in the head a number of times to release its grip.

The dog is described as short-haired and cream-colored with a square head. The victim said he believes the dog was a pit bull mix.
