JANESVILLE, Wis. -

The man accused of brutally stabbing his roommate was in court Monday as police still investigate the alleged claims that he made during the incident that he had killed three people.

Clayton Courtney sat silently in court as he listened to a Janesville police officer recount the night of the stabbing.

Courtney is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and five other charges related to a May 4 attack.

During the fight, Courtney allegedly told his roommate he was going to kill his family and unborn child.

At Monday’s preliminary hearing an officer who responded to the scene the night of the stabbing recounted the damage done to the house.

“Once we got into the residence I saw large amount of food. The refrigerator was knocked over, the closet doors were ripped off and thrown to the floor. A lot of blood was all over the kitchen floor and on the walls,” Janesville police Officer Nicolas Drout said.

Courtney is also being investigated in the death of his girlfriend, Britney Cross. Courtney has not been charged in that case, but police said he is their only suspect.

Police believe Courtney killed Cross, and then went back to his residence and attacked his roommate.
