A man who was arrested with a gun at the Elver Park fireworks was sentenced Monday, according to a state Department of Justice release.
Rashon Howard, 27, of Madison was arrested because he had an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support, according to the release. A loaded .22 caliber pistol was found in his waistband at the event.
Howard was convicted of felony possession of THC with intent to distribute in 2009, officials said. He is also prohibited from possessing firearms because he has a misdemeanor battery conviction.
Howard was sentenced to 30 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, for unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, according to the release. He pleaded guilty to the charge on Oct. 3.
