A man accused of kicking a police horse is likely kicking himself after police arrested him for attacking the horse and discovered that he was wanted on unrelated warrant.

Police say Joseph Cruz, 29, of Portland, Oregon, ran up to Olin, a law enforcement animal on active duty, and shouted a "karate-like battle cry" before delivering what a spokesman calls "a jumping, double kick" to the horse's right thigh.

Olin was unharmed by the kick, reports the Associated Press.

Cruz was taken into custody for interfering with a law enforcement animal, at which time police discovered he was wanted on an unrelated arrest warrant.
