MADISON, Wis. -

A Madison man faces the possibility of up to more than 12 years in prison after being convicted in a heroin case.

A Wisconsin Department of Justice release said Ryan Spence, 29, purchased heroin and shared it with two other men on Madison’s north side in July 2013.

All three men were arrested in the parking lot of a business on Northport Drive. Police said they found heroin, used syringes containing suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Investigators said the three men made statements to officers implicating themselves in drug activity.

The two other men each pleaded guilty to one count of possession of heroin.

Spence pleaded guilty bail jumping in connection with a separate incident in which he and an accomplice attempted to steal merchandise from a Walmart.
