Woman says she was assaulted while calling for cab, officials say

Police: Madison man arrested on tentative charges

MADISON, Wis. - A Madison woman claims she was touched inappropriately while trying to call a cab early Sunday morning, according to a release.

The 21-year-old woman told officials she was trying to call a cab at 2:15 a.m. for a ride home from Five Nightclub, at 5 Applegate Court, when Joel Torres Raices, 26, of Madison, tried to coax her into his car.

When the woman refused to get in his car, Raices allegedly got out and grabbed her by the arm, according to the release.

The woman told officials she was able to break away but not before Raices allegedly touched her inappropriately on the outside of her clothing.

Officials said a witness gave police Raices' license plate number and he was located later at his Madison home.

Raices denied having contact with the woman, according to the release.

Raices was arrested on tentative charges of fourth-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct. Raices is also on a probation hold.
