MADISON, Wis. - The leaders of Gov. Scott Walker's economic development agency plan to discuss steps taken in to improve operations.
The semi-public Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. has been under fire for mismanagement and other problems since its inception. Creating the new agency to replace the Commerce Department was one of Gov. Scott Walker's top priorities.
The agency's board of directors received a corrective action plan in July, based on recommendations for improvement included in audits that pin pointed numerous problems, including areas where WEDC was not following the law.
Agency leaders on Wednesday planned to discuss that and actions that have been taken to improve the agency that is charged with leading job creation efforts in Wisconsin.
