Teen says group recorded robbery near East Towne Mall on cellphone

MADISON, Wis. - A Madison teen was robbed Sunday afternoon near East Towne Mall, police said.

The 17-year-old girl said a gold SUV pulled up near her around 3:30 p.m. and several young women got out, according to a release.

The group of girls grabbed the victim's wrists and squeezed while demanding her purse, police said.

One of the robbers recorded the attack on her cellphone, according to the release.

The 17-year-old said she thought she recognized one of the robbers.

Police said the robbers got the girl's purse, got back into the SUV and drove away.
