TOWN OF SPRING GROVE, Wis. - An Illinois man has died from the injuries he suffered in a three-vehicle crash in Green County on Sunday.
John G. Kohn, 88, of Freeport, Ill., died from his injuries Wednesday, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies responded at about 2 p.m. Sunday to a multiple vehicle crash on state Highway 11 and Mt. Hope Road in the Township of Spring Grove.
Sheriff's officials said Kohn was driving eastbound on state Highway 11 and was attempting to turn into a business in the W900 block of state Highway 11 when a vehicle driven by Amanda M. Swedlund, 24, of Juda, rear-ended Kohn's vehicle, pushing it into the westbound lane, where it struck the rear of a third vehicle.
Kohn's vehicle sustained severe damage in the crash and was towed from the scene. He and his passenger, Joann K. Kohn, 80, also of Freeport, were transported to Janesville Mercy Hospital.
The second vehicle in the crash, which was driven by Swedlund, had its air bags deploy and it sustained severe damage. There were seven occupants in that vehicle, and five of them suffered injuries and were transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital.
The two occupants of the third vehicle were not injured in the crash. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.
Swedlund was issued citation for inattentive driving and released pending court, according to a Green County Sheriff's Department news release.
