Janesville police look for man in armed robbery

Man displayed gun, got away with cash & cigarettes

JANESVILLE, Wis. - A man held up a convenience store in Janesville early Monday morning, and Janesville police need the public's help in trying to find him.

The robbery happened just after 12:30 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Center Avenue.

According to police, a white man about 6 feet tall with a slim build walked into the Stop N Go on Center Avenue carrying a black semi-automatic handgun. Police said the man pointed the gun at the clerk and ordered him to give him money and Newport cigarettes.

Police said the man was wearing an Army green parka with fur around the hood, black pants and white shoes. Anyone who knows anything about this incident should call Janesville police at (608) 757-2244 or CrimeStoppers at (608) 756-3636.

The clerk was not injured during the robbery.
